Waiting for todays labs-Counselor Deb
Deb has spent time counseling two ladies so far. One was so distressed because she had offended her caregiver and did not know how to deal with the disruption in fellowship of a lifelong friend.
The other is a retired teacher from Kentucky. She is so ready to go home. She is debating whether or not to continue treatment or go home and die.
Deb has to take two liters of saline to get her heart rate down. She got her normal shot in the tummy. Looks like several additional hours here today. But,our only alternative is the apartment. Might as well be here and let Deb keep ministering to these ladies.
What did you do today?
We would like to hear about it.
Blessing all
Vern

Okay, you want to know what we did today? We went to church, then visited my mom and dad in their assisted living apartment. While we were there, we watched the Mets beat the Braves 2 to 0. But we beat them the previous 2 games, so I guess losing one is not so bad. After that, we drove up to Perimeter Mall, shopped a little, and had dinner at PF Chang's, our favorite Chinese restaurant. The funniest thing that happened all day was having to wait for a dozen Canadian geese to cross the road single-file in front of us when we turned into the road the restaurant was on. They did not get in a hurry. I wondered if the pavement was burning their feet--they didn't seem to notice. Well, that was our exciting day.

Hey Vern and Deb,
ReplyDeleteJust a little update on what is going on with us. We are getting closer and closer to moving to Cochran to start A&P training. It's only 5 weeks away now! I can't believe it. I've got my classes scheduled and am finishing up transfer to the certificate program as I've been working on my Flight Management degree until now. I'll pick that up again later.
I'm taking 4 classes this semester toward the Flight Management degree and doing well. I have been shocked to see how anti Christian the curriculum and my professors are in World Lit and World Civ. It's been a good opportunity to brush up on apologetics and looking at why I believe what I believe. I've gone up against them in the class discussion boards to hopefully at least give younger students something to think about other than the professor's comments.
Besides school and work, we've been working on the house constantly to keep it spic-and-span and make minor improvements. That's what much of Sunday consisted of besides going to Church this morning.
We continue praying for strength, grace, and healing for y'all.
Love,
Paul and Krissy
Wow- what an amazing testimony Deb is!! Our lives are no where near as dramatic.... We (the kids and I) spent the week in DE helping out an old friend- we also took time to take full advantage of the beach!! Now that we are home, we are busy catching up on all the missed sleep. I am teaching Algebra Prep for Summer School- what a blessing- I get to earn money AND do what I love! Tonight, the kids start a Back Yard Bible Club at a friends house- and they are bringing 2 friends who are not from a Christian home- how exciting! So, as you can see, our life is full but not super exciting- which I'm thankful for!!
ReplyDeleteHello Vern and Deb,
ReplyDeleteThinking of you everyday. Petitioning our Creator for the efficacy of your treatment, minimal pain and discomfort, and peace that He alone can bring. I am always encouraged by the integrity of your Christian walk, thank you for following our Lord's example. We are preparing for Jamie's sophomore year at McIntosh, Terri's sophomore year at Georgia Southern where she's carrying a 3.9, thank you Lord, and last but nowhere near the least, Hannah's first year at Booth. Jamie and I were blessed to hold our third weekly disciplining class for McIntosh football players. We have six regulars and about four other occasional attendees. FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) is also providing wonderful small group studies for the coaches and sponsoring some summer training camps for the students. We appreciate your bold witness here on the blog. Your influence is most positive.
In Christ,
Larry & Michelle
