Waiting, waiting, waiting

Our appointment with Dr. Carr to get the results of the bone marrow biospy is tomorrow at 11:20. Needless to say I am anxiously hopeful. My dear friend, Cassy, spent the day with me and I am soooo grateful. I fear the day would have never passed had I been alone. We talked and planned ways to help me in my wonderful little lift chair. She has made it so much easier for me to have everything I need easily reachable. She cleaned and organized and answered the phone all day. Late in the afternoon Gary Franklin came by for a visit and prayer. I cannot say how grateful I am to have had cheerful company as I spent this day. I am sure there will be many more "waiting days" but this was a pleasant first spending it with dear, loving friends. (It still would be wonderful to awaken and find this a dream.) Please pray and I will, of course, share the results and the plans that seem to follow. Good night!! Deb

Old dog learning new tricks!!

Today is a fun day for me. I am sore from the procedures yesterday, but Amanda is teaching me about blogging. Stephen left this afternoon to visit Trey and Katka in Brussels for a couple of weeks. Dear friends gave Stephen "buddy passes" so he could go help Trey with final preparations for the new baby. He had mixed emotions about going since there is so much still unknown about me. However, I am so happy he's going to be with them for a couple of weeks. Who knows he may be there when little Evelyn is born!! Beth Sterne, a dear friend from college days, was visiting her father in Griffin and came by for a visit. She and her family live in Washington, DC. Our families have been friends forever and I haven't seen her in a long time. It was a bittersweet time since she had no idea of our current adventure. We were able to pray together and catch up. Such joy!!

I am so grateful for all the acts of kindness! We have had visits, meals, housecleaning and shopping trips...flowers, cards, calls, countless prayers and endless mercies of which I have no idea. I appreciate all your acts of love.

Thanks for checking on me!!

Amanda and I are setting up a blog so we can keep you informed as we go along. It's so strange to be writing to unknown people so I am just going to imagine you are all dear friends because I think we will be.

Yesterday was a big day for me. I had a port installed and a bone marrow biopsy. The technicians at Fayette Piedmont Radiology must have been angels in disguise because they were so kind and the entire process are relatively pain free. In my case heavy sedation really worked. The next appointment with Dr. Carr is Thursday. Hopefully the bone marrow will confirm that I have multiple myeloma. If not, we will have to start over in the discovery process. I am amazed that one week ago I got my first MRI and first hint that this was more than a lower back injury. Truly what a difference a week can make.

I am so grateful for all the help, prayers and encouragement I have been given this week. Please continue to pray for clear direction and that we can begin treatment soon.
