We are in Little Rock 5/4/2010
Jon and Gracie
Gracie's Instrument Panel
We left the house in Georgia about 10 am and had a small send off covey of angels including our Pastor and friends. Because we will be here in Ark for about a month, I asked Jon Abarr to fly us out and take Gracie back home to her hangar. No use paying double for hangar space! Once again we felt like the Beverly Hillbillies loading up what seemed to be all our belonging for the 2.5 hour flight from liftoff to touchdown.
Our route of flight took us just south of Memphis where we could see water everywhere. The folks in Tennessee are still dealing with flooding.

Deb had plenty of meds helping her deal with the pain of climbing into the right front seat of Gracie. She had several nod-offs but mostly stayed alert and seemed to enjoy the perfect flying day the Lord provided.

Arriving in Little Rock, we were delighted to be greeted by our driver Calvin, who so carefully transported us on our last trip. I told Calvin last time we were here that if he would be ever so careful with Deb's back,we would be long-term customers. So,he was, and we are! Calvin started his own Limo business a while back and his limo rate for us is just a tad more than a worn-out rough-riding cab.
Calvin is so tender in helping get Deb out of the plane. Today we learned more about Calvin. He is an active Christian which we had perceived before, but today we found out that he runs a local chapter of the CMA-Christian Motorcyle Association. My late brother Terry was very active in the same ministry in the Atlanta area.

When we arrived at the Markham House, our home for this Arkansas adventure, the manager was so glad to see us and voluntarily apologized for the van-in-the-ditch Deb had been treated to last trip(see previous posts). She explained that new rules and training were in affect and she was so appreciative of my letter so she could prevent any other myeloma patients from similar treatment in the future.
Our neighbor-angel Judy O'toole had repeated her picnic gift for us. We had sandwiches she made and fruit in a small wicker basket so we had our lunch with us in the room. Judy said that if we bring the basket back, she will keep it filled for our trips here. Thanks Judy! Yum!
After getting Deb settled in for a rest,I headed for the Spine Center to sign in and get our schedule and test kit. When I got back to the room I found out the test kit was incomplete, so I had to make another trip. Finally getting what was needed, the van driver dropped me at Kroger where I loaded us up on grub for a few days. Deb got a nice nap.
Supper was an organic salad make from the freshest veggies. Deb seemed to enjoy it.
Watermelon was desert.
Meanwhile Deb talked to the scheduler to get a better grasp on what is ahead. Now we've settled in for the evening and Deb is reading the Word and about to retire. I think I'll join her!
It's been a long day!
Blessings all!
Vern

Hi Vern and Deb,
ReplyDeleteSo good to know that Gracie, Deb, and you made it safely to Little Rock. Bruce and I are praying for you as your Little Rock adventure begins. We are praying for comfort, strength and healing in His loving care. Thank you for keeping this blog so that we can keep up with you and stay in touch. It comforts us to know what is going on, and I am sure it comforts you to know that you are not alone in your journey. No one wants to venture into an unknown territory without a Guide and trusty companions. You have both, so let's join hands and hearts and press on together.
Lifting you up in love,
Bruce and Daria
Vern,
ReplyDeleteI didn't get a chance to hug you before you left Tuesday, but I wanted to send my support and say again how grateful I am that you are sharing all of this with us. Please let us know if there is anything the angels haven't already covered! Much love to Deb, and as always, many prayers.
