Trey, Katka, and Evelyn headed off to Ft Meyers,Fl early this morning so Katka could soak up some rays and see Florida. They rented a car and headed off for the Keys. Trey and Katka are both certified divers and love the sea. They are returning in a few days before returning to Europe.
Deb is still very limited in strength and endurance, but today was a beautiful sunny day. She has lived inside so today we went to a small cafe for early lunch where we were the only customers. She enjoyed that and had a short list of some shopping needs. Instead of me heading out for the items, she wanted to go. So, off we went for two short stops at local stores for those items, then home fort a long nap.
We enjoyed our casual 'normal' day so much and look forward to many more.
While Deb slept Vern hit the chore list and got a lot done. Love results!
So, as 2010 comes to a close, we hope for a better 2011 and wish you a happy new year! Thanks for your prayers and support during our adventures of life!

Wednesday Celebration
In addition to the ravages of cancer, Deb has suffered from the side-affects of the chemo cocktails she has endured this year. Her eyesight, teeth, and hearing all took a hit. As soon as we got home from Arkansas, she went to the dentist. Yesterday she got her new magical hearing aids. Her old ones could not overcome the loss she had this year. These new ones have Bluetooth capability and allow her to sync to her cell phone and TV so she can hear. They also interact with each ear to enhance her direction-of-sound ability. She left the audiologist's office with a huge grin...she could hear! What you may not have know is that until yesterday, she was reading lips and had tremendous trouble hearing certain pitch sounds...particularly female voices. PTL,that is better today!
Last evening Amanda hosted us for a photo session and meal since we have our three children and families together for a few days. Eliana and Evelyn have new Christmas dresses and were they ever cute! We were joined by chief angel Cassy and 'Fedge.' (Jeff)
We celebrated Deb's enduring and successful fight for her life.
Blessings as your year ends and you begin the next! Take nothing for granted!

Evelyn's growing resemblance to Deb
After a few weeks together on her visit to America, little Evelyn is even beginning to resemble her grandmother. Do you agree?
Tuesday-local chemo
Tuesday Deb had a checkup with Carolyn the PA at the local hospital. Afterward she had a dose of maintenance chemo. All this is in addition to her handful of pills at home. Besides weakness and frailness, she is doing well.
So far, we are very pleased with the staff, facility, and level of care she is receiving here after our time in Arkansas.

In Memorium: Gwen
Gwen passed away on Christmas Eve. Had she lived another day, she and Harold would have been married 48 years. Deb and Gwen had mirrored medical conditions, infections, meds, etc. They lived next door to us. I talked to Harold today and he is busy making final arrangements in Tennessee. He asked for prayer in learning to live in the loneliness ahead without Gwen. They are believers and have the hope of eternity.
Dec 26th-a big day

My late grandmother Foster would often make a family heirloom cake-she called it a Japanese Fruit Cake-for Christmas. For our wedding she made one for my groom's cake. She's been gone a long time now but my aunt Esther has the secret family recipe and made one for Christmas.Today she brought it to us from Gray, Ga. Her son Jason, a Marine based in Okinawa also visited us with his wife and two children. Of course, my Uncle Alton Foster-better known to me as 'Unk' tagged along also. My aunt Esther was also state president of the women's Pilot Club. Thanks!
Trey, Katka, Evelyn were here. Amanda, Jon, and Eliana joined us. Stephen had to go to work mid-afternoon. The two young cousins got to romp together even as the multiple generations of older cousins enjoyed visiting.

Christmas Eve 2010
After a nice breakfast, Deb's brother Tim left Warner Robins with Deb's mom Doris and I left Peachtree City. We met halfway and made the 'exchange'. We had a wonderful lunch with Katka, Evelyn, Trey, Stephen, Deb, and Vern. Amanda and family have been rotating thru a tummy virus, so she may not be able to join us tomorrow.
Nice naps after lunch in the sun room made it a very restful and peaceful day which brings up one of the blessings of the Lord we are enjoying: the peace of the Lord!
Are you enjoying the peace of God during this season?
Merry Christmas all!

Weds-'laundry day'
Deb's chemo yesterday went well. She slept much of the afternoon yesterday and this morning. She is doing great but is tired. She was somewhat unstable this morning also. She needed help to get going.
Evelyn came upstairs via the laundry basket. Cute laundry, huh? Later she came to the office and charmed everyone who saw her.

Start of home chemo
Today Deb had her visit with Dr York and then her first maintenance chemo. In addition, she started a handful of other meds. She slept most of the afternoon and has been a little groggy since.
Since we are in our home hospital we naturally ran into a number of friends. We ate lunch with Ray whose wife is admitted for a hip break. Getting on the elevator we bumped into Anne and Mary.

Baby Showers & Sunroom Event
Over 25 years ago a group of home-schooling Mom's got together to encourage one another and to promote 'socialization' of the home-schooled children. Initially they made baskets as the children played and the group became known as 'The Basket Guild'.
The group has supported one another thru life's events...births,deaths,marriages, divorces, job changes, etc. Because Deb was in the hospital in Arkansas while Eliana and Evelyn were born, Deb missed the baby showers that would have happened had she been here and healthy. Because Trey, Katka, and Evelyn are here visiting, and Amanda,Jon, and Eliana were available, tonight was the long-delayed combined baby-showers.
Of course, since the new sun room is available, it became meeting central! What a blessing to have long-term friends and a place to meet.
Note the stars of the show...the Babies Evelyn and Eliana!
