Week 2 Experimental Chemo

A friend of our son Stephen sent this photo from the storms last evening near Rome, Ga. That line of storms which killed over thirty folks was of great concern as we planned our trip back to Arkansas. We ended up waiting until the tail end of the storm system was passing Peachtree City. We were out of the rain clouds by the time we crossed the Alabama border. The rest of the trip was crisp clear skies produced by the huge high pressure airmass.

A famous TV newsman always gives the local time of this Mississippi town. Anyone know who that person is and what the name of this town is? We pass this town on each trip and think of him.

Another landmark: The mighty Mississippi! Who wrote the famous tune about chasing the bloody British down the Mississip ? What was the name of the tune?

Spring temperatures are causing some crops to green up. The difference since last week is very noticable. Temps were in the eighties most of this past week.

Eastern Arkansas is the rice capitol of the USA. These terraced fields have not yet been flooded. Soon they will be rice paddies! No wonder so many water fowl hang out here.

Deb leans against her chariot after another safe and comfortable ride to Arkansas. We praise God for his provision and safety.

After we picked up the rental car, I dropped Deb off at the chemo clinic while I checked in at the Markham House. When the infusion was completed, Deb had to sit and have vitals checked every :15 mins to ensure she is not having a reaction to the experimental chemo. This has to continue for a total of twelve visits before the staff stops doing the 'bonus hour.'

The plan now is to go in early Sunday morn to try and get a head start on Sunday, then fly back to Georgia. Deb is very tired physically and emotionally today.

  1. The Battle of New Orleans by Johnny Horton

I have googled the first trivia question every which way and cannot find the answer. I will have to quit looking since it would be bad form to be last to Sunday School because I was still trying to find the name and town.

I was thinking of you while watching the line of storms move across the weather map. Praying for journeying mercies (a favorite prayer of Mrs. Owens) for your trip back to GA.

    Love, Mary Roberts
