Day + 18 - Fevers, Chills + Friends

Gayle and Deb
Labs underway
Today Deb was a 7 on the Woozy meter with occasional gusts to 8.5 . We are hoping for a 6 or better tomorrow based on all the medical and personal attention Deb had today.  Our friend of 30 + years  Gayle flew in from Hotlanta for a visit. We raised our children together.  Gayle has a tremendous medical background and got to see a typical 'Deb-day' as Deb needed infusers, blood, platelets, labs of all sorts, exams with multiple nurses and APNs, and lunch.

As Deb's body recovers, it is doing strange things. Deb's legs have a severe rash that is caused by blotches of blood peeking thru her flesh. This is supposedly because her platelets were very low. When platelets get low, it shows in the skin because of easy bruising and the like. On her back there is a recovering rash of a different sort. Her arms have their own rash! Lucky me: not many men have a speckled wife!
Nurses Rita and Beth confirm the Mommy-Mummy's ID before giving blood
Classmate Eva dropped in for a chat. She's from Austria

It will be another 7-10 days before Deb's immune system recovers we are reminded. Night fevers continue, adding to Deb's overall misery index.

Blessings!

White Count-below 2 is neutrapenic and indicates Deb's vulnerability for infection.
Platelets -a whitish colored component of blood. Low platelets=higher Woozy factor!
CRP -An indicator of relative health. Lower is better. When the number creeps up, Deb could be getting sick.

  1. You two should get gold medals for perseverance!
And with such great attitudes too! So glad for a good day on Sun. Thankful to God for the encouraging news. Tell Deb to hang in there - she has gone thru too much to give up now! We love you!
