Monday evening

Deb has gone three days with no outside blood products! Her system is at the baby stage of beginning to supply her body with its own red, white, and platelets.

Today we shared a cluster with two forty-something brothers from Maine. The patient had worked on oil drilling rigs in the gulf. There he was exposed to many different chemicals. Chemicals seem to be a common denominator in myeloma cases.

Deb is still very weak and has been running a continuous fever...right now about 100+. We came home with two five hour infusers to help her blood chemistry. We also brought two more antibiotic infusers. Plus pills, pills, pills!

Last night I had to pull an infuser early because Deb started having heart racing and feeling very strange.

Tomorrow afternoon Dr Barlogie is having an info meeting to share the latest research findings. Deb will probably be shot and unable to attend but I hope to get her home and settled in and then I will go back if I can.

Deb's white blood count over the last few days.Today is the top. See a trend? She can go to a quiet restaurant and take off her mask when it gets over 2.0

  2. Hi Vern & Deb,
Praying for a rapid recovery from this treatment. It looks like the white blood count is beginning to bounce back. Should be smooth sailing now. Keep on keepin' on. You're doing great, and you'll be home soon!
