Weekend Dr chats with Deb

Deb had a good 'slumber party' with Amanda and Vern stayed at the condo last night. Amanda's heading home today and Vern's back on duty at the hospital. We were hoping the white count would continue upward tracking so we were disappointed to see it go down again. 

If the platelets stay up or if  they can find some for tomorrow, we anticipate an in-room bone marrow procedure Monday. 

Deb was given pre meds for her platelet infusion and is very sleepy.

Don't forget to 'fall back' on your clocks and check those fire alarm batteries.

Almost noon and the weekend doc is making her rounds. First words were ' you look a lot better than I thought you would.'

Deb is responding to the 24x7 IV meds so she is making no changes. We looked at the history on the chart and she agreed that the bone marrow is essential to understanding why the normal white increases dropped off so much. Current theory is the virus caused it.

Platelets -(Normal range 150-500) a whitish colored component of blood. Low platelets=higher Woozy factor!
CRP -(Normal range = 0.0-10) An indicator of relative health. Lower is better. When the number creeps up, Deb could be getting sick.
