Day + 45 - Sunday, Amanda left, Deb Fell,Whites Down

Amanda went home this morning.  She and Deb had an exciting evening as Deb fell and hurt her knee while in the WC/Lou/Bathroom/Head/ or whatever you call it!

This put Deb on the official 'bad list.' She now has a 4 x 8 foot cushion beside her bed with a porta-potty beside her and must have total assistance for using this plastic throne. There goes privacy!
Deb also has a new UT Infection which requires the staff to zoot-suit so as not to spread it.

Dr van Rhee made rounds again today and encouraged Deb with frankness and kindness. When asked about the low white count, he said we must be patient. I asked if anyone ever not recover whites and he said about once every 2-3 years someone will not rebuild their immune system, but it is very rare.

Blessings!

Check back later

Platelets -(Normal range 150-500) a whitish colored component of blood. Low platelets=higher Woozy factor!
CRP -(Normal range = 0.0-10) An indicator of relative health. Lower is better. When the number creeps up, Deb could be getting sick.

  1. We continue to remember Deb and her family in prayer. I know she must have really enjoyed Amanda's visit. We are praying for her counts to recover soon. Those stem cells can be slow sometimes. I know that I'm always afraid that they are not going to work, but eventually, they start to help. We are in this fight, too, and know how difficult it can be. God bless you both.
    A fellow "classmate."
