Day + 35 -Drs in conference now - Improved numbers

Deb had a rough night with her digestive system. However, this morning is better. She ate some cottage cheese and peaches and is resting well.

The staff and docs are having their weekly conference as I write in the room pictured above. The room is full and out of view are three doctors who are manning large computer terminals so that any question about a patient's numbers or scans can be flashed up on the screen for all to discuss.We hope to get a flight plan into the future out of the meeting.

Deb had a continuous IV tree of powerful drugs all night and there are four IV bags running now.

Stay tuned and check in throughout the day.

10:08 am -Dr van Rhee just left.
Summary of his thoughts: Deb has no immune system and she is being protected by the strongest anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-biotics. The last stem cells were killed off by the extreme viral disease Deb had at the time. She will be carefully monitored and medicated to allow this infusion of stem cells to take off.

The infections she has had must be overcome as they could be life-threatening. Then, the cancer battle will resume, most likely in the form of of targeted radiation.

Dr van Rhee reported that the lesions on Deb's breastbone area extend to the soft tissues under and around the breastbone and are suitable for radiation treatment.

Deb is encouraged and very pleased to hear from Dr van Rhee and get his thoughts.

Pray for these stem cells to do their jobs well! It may take 7-12 days for that to be completed.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Our hospitalist doc just left and gave us encouraging news about the conference. He got approval for Deb to get Growth Factor shots to help her new stem cells develop. That's good news!

After he left, our nutritionist came by and gave us her take on the meeting. She answered many questions Deb had about the journey to a normal body and function. Deb has lost a lot of weight and is not taking in many calories. I have a 'grocery store' shelf here in the room and have raided Target and Kroger looking for mini-snacks that I can entice Deb with. Right now green bananas and peanut butter are king!

Deb has had so many steroids I kid her about being qualified to play baseball for the Yankees when she leaves here. ;)

Blessings!

Platelets -(Normal range 150-500) a whitish colored component of blood. Low platelets=higher Woozy factor!
CRP -(Normal range = 0.0-10) An indicator of relative health. Lower is better. When the number creeps up, Deb could be getting sick.
