Monday evening: pharmacy meds / friendship meds

I worked today while several angels stayed with Deb. She is very tired tonight and holding on for bedtime. We have hardly had the TV on in weeks. Mostly we sit in the darkened room and talk quietly with occasional phone calls. We have some spreadsheets set up with meds and temperatures so we can take everything on schedule. Flowers and the tree poster I wrote about are directly in Deb's line-of-sight. My great-grandfathers sideboard looks like a pharmacy!

When I got home, a dear one brought us supper and then left. Deb and I made chit-chat about our separate day and then Deb read your comments and postings on this blog. With many tears, she read and re-read your kind loving remarks. Her spirits were lifted so much!

So, because she cherishes you and your kind words so much, and I witness their power to encourage and delight her, I'm asking...no begging you to please continue them. Words have power and I've seen the results! No matter how mundane, please give her a daily greeting. It will do us at least as much good as the medicines.

Thanks friends!

  1. We pray the pain was less today and the breathing was easier. Those of us that are unable to visit need the blog updates to keep us informed and focused on your needs. Know that you continue to touch lives around the world and we are all offering a unified voice in your behalf. Rest well. Bruce and Teresa

  3. Well another day her in Tehachapi. In case you are wondering, we live about 3 hrs as the crow flies east of San Luis Obispo. Nestled between two VERY hot dessert and farming valleys. We are in a huge valley in the mountains. I have a lovely view of snow capped mountains all winter. I would love to have you on my porch right now, as it is a breezy 75 degrees.

I kinda know about the meds thing, as I took care of Ed's mom for 3 years. Ordering refills every 2 months. I sure hope yours are not all random refil dates.

Glad to know that you are feeling well enough to read our responses.

One of my favorite lyric is:

Blessed be the ties that bind, our hearts in Christian love...even from CA. Yvonne

  4. Dear Deb,
Thinking of you today and I realized that the Squadron party this Saturday will just not be the same without you.
I don't know if we do it together but I say a few prayers for you each day.
I pray that every day will be better for you.
With Love for you and Vern.

  7. Dear Deb,
It is 2 a.m. and my 13 year old dog just woke me, asking to go out - So I'm wide awake and the Lord brought you to mind. I pray you are resting well and He is keeping your mind in perfect peace...Ecc. 11:5 "Just as you do not know the path of the wind, nor can you see how bones are formed in the womb of a pregnant woman, so we cannot see the work of God who makes all things." I believe He is working, even tonight in your body, in ways we cannot see. Sleep well.... Cindy

  8. Hi Deb,
I woke up at 4 a.m. this morning and I figured it was my praying shift. So I prayed for you for about a half hour before I went back to sleep. I figure that God is allowing each one of your friends and family to wake up for a few minutes each night to pray for you. What an honor and priveledge to be a part of your prayer vigil!
    We love you,
    Bruce and Daria

  9. Hi Deb,

We continue to monitor and to pray, and appreciate the specific prayer requests you shared. What a blessing it is, even to us, to see the love of Christ manifested to you through the words and tangible acts of so many who love you. Paul said "But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love." He didn't say that faith and hope were unimportant - Lord knows that if they are important to anyone, they are important to you and your family as you walk through this trial. But it is my hope and prayer that the love of the saints for you and your family is the fuel (jet fuel, no, rocket fuel!!) that drives and boosts your faith and hope. Paul also said ". . . and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us." May the love of God overflow the boundaries of your heart and your imagination today! Can't wait to see you in Little Rock.

    J.H. and Jamie
