Monday evening: Introducing Dr Nair and nurse Gina

Monday has been a long active day. Deb had a long talk with Dr Nair. We took lots of notes. Dr Nair laid out our treatment plan. Deb got a triple port cut and sewn into her large vein next to her heart. We got most of the meds to be used in the coming weeks. We got a color-coded calendar with the complex intake schedule of meds on it.

I'll try to update and explain it. As I better comprehend it, I'll come back and edit.

Basically, we are in an intensive six month battle for Deb's health and life. It's not easy nor is it simple.

Gina: the Holy Spirit tatoo on her wrist is a reminder about the one she serves

There will be chemo and meds given at the hospital and then there is a med plan Deb and Vern have to manage according to a coordinated color coded schedule. We have to be on our toes!

  1. Deb, I know it's been so difficult. But I have to say, you look fantastic! We're praying that God will use his healing power and these meds to stop this cancer. Hope you have a peaceful night's sleep in the midst of all you have ahead of you. One day (or moment) at a time. So thankful the pain level is down.

  2. Hi beautiful !

    We just wanted to tell you how much we love you. The med schedule can be grueling I know...
    mine has kept me going for years (as you well know). God's healing power is in yours just as it's in mine. You're always in our prayers. Good night, sleep tight, love Tim & Brenda

  3. WOW! I agree with those before me--you look fantastic! We are so pleased that your pain levels are down. Now to kick that anemia back into submission! You two can do this--you have lots of help back home! And, you have a lot of prayer warriors around the globe--Deb and Vernon are mentioned around the clock before the throne of the Father that never sleeps! Isn't that amazing? We love you, Barbara (and John)

  4. Hi Vern & Deb,
    Isn't it wonderful when you find out that your nurse is a warrior of the One we worship? When you embark on the really tough journeys in life, God knows you need His strength and encouragement so He surrounds you with His most faithful servants. I am sure you find comfort in knowing Gina takes her orders from the most powerful Doctor in the universe! I believe He places these people nearby to remind us that He is by our side constantly and He has not forgotten us for one nano-second. Watch carefully, now. He will continue to place little miracles all along your path. You may be too distracted to notice at times. But later on, when you look back on where you have been, you will say, "Wow! I never even realized it at the time..." God can be sneaky like that sometimes. His love is so amazing. Rest gently and peacefully in it now with your ear against His chest.
    Love,
    Bruce and Daria ♥

  6. Just want you to know for the millionth time how much I love you. I was thinking of this hymn today:

    O love that will not let me go,
    I rest my weary soul in Thee;
    I give Thee back the life I owe,
    That in Thine ocean depths its flow
    may richer, fuller be.

    O light that follows all my way,
    I yield my flickring torch to Thee;
    My heart restores its borrowed ray,
    THat in Thy sunshine's glow its day
    May brighter, fairer be.

    O Joy that seekest me thru pain,
    I cannot close my heart to Thee;
    I trace the rainbow through the rain,
    And feel the promise is not vain
    That morn shall tearless be.

    O Cross that liftest up my head,
    I dare not ask to hide from Thee;
    I lay in dust life's glory dead,
    And from the ground there blossoms red
    Life that shall endless be.

    This one has been my companion thru many dark
    nights. Love, Lisa

  7. I think it might have been that great theologian Byrd Posey, whose mentoring gave me for the first time a very deep sense of understanding in my heart the CONSTANCY of the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives. The sweet words and melody of that same hymn has also given me confort and consolation when I needed it too. Cecil
