Monday evening:

>With our departure for Arkansas scheduled for Weds morning, Deb and chief angel Cassy Sims got clothing needs identified and set aside for packing. There is a lot to do when you leave home for a month! What would you take?

>Deb's mobility keeps improving, but her anemia makes her so tired.

>My sister Kay visited Deb's mom Doris in her new personal care home. She reported that Doris enjoyed the food, her room mate, and the location. Thanks to all who prayed and helped! Please continue!

>Trey posted some additional pix of newborn Evelyn Sky Darley which can be viewed at : < http://www.flickr.com/photos/treyka/sets/72157623851642461 >
She sure is a pretty little thing, don't you think?

>I worked today and will work part of tomorrow but have a lot of administrative duties to take care of-at work and personally. Deb has a load of special pillows and pills to assemble and load in a small plane. Once again we will look like the Beverly Hillbillies heading off to Hollywood!

>Finally, my father always had a saying,"always be good to your co-pilot: you never know where he will turn up next." Applying that to old friends from years ago, I share with the younger readers his wisdom.

Tonight we were brought supper by the Larry Gillespie family. I met Larry in 1963-4 or thereabouts. He too is suffering from a cancer and his visit, encouragement, and prayer was especially poignant to us because he is just a few steps ahead of us on this difficult trail. Larry and I had lost touch over the years and recently found each other thru my airplane builder group called The Falcon RV Squadron.

Weds morning I am meeting with my attorney Doug Warner before we depart for Arkansas. I met Doug about the same time as Larry.

Chief Angel Cassy and husband Jeff became friends in about 1964 or so while we were attending High School together. Cassy's father was a principal.

An AF squadron mate last seen in 1980 saw this blog and called today to offer the use of his cabin in Arkansas.

So, as life goes on, the old friends do resurface. None of those mentioned had hung around the old home town; all had meandered around while establishing careers and raising families.

A number of long-lost relatives have also reconnected with us.

So, if there are blessings coming out of this trouble, the re-establishment of relationships is certainly one of the best.

So youngsters and oldsters: take Dad's advice and always be kind to your co-pilots, because THEY WILL RESURFACE!

Vern

  3. Yes, Vern, some of us relatives are like bad pennies. You can't get rid of us. Bruce had shoulder surgery last Friday. So he's out of work for a couple of weeks, and would love to help you fly out to Arkansas, but he only has one wing. He's doing well, though.
We will be lifting you up in prayer as you trek across the country.
    We love you!
