What a day!

>Evelyn was born healthy and whole. We had several talks with a very tired but happy Trey. Trey posted a link to the first pix (see below) but the internet signal in the hospital was not strong enough for more. Looks like a definite keeper!

>Amanda got Deb's mom Doris to the new home in Warner Robins in good spirits while our son Stephen and Amanda's husband Jon loaded the rental truck. Stephen had to get to work while Jon got to drive the truck the 90 miles south. Angels Dave and Cathy Hicks helped pack the goods in boxes. My sister Kay and her husband Lee Emerson joined forces with Deb's brother Tim and wife Brenda in Warner Robins to get the room set up for Doris so it looked organized so she could adapt to her new surrounds.

Summary: job completed with no injuries. Thanks all!

>I got the best deal. I got to stay with Deb all day! She continues to be very tired but her mobility has improved. We suspect the anemia is getting worse. I think we will be getting to Arkansas just in time! Her appetite was also better. An angel brought a delicious meal which we enjoyed so much. Thanks angel corps!

>Finally, we got 'PINKED.'
Another secret angel put a pink balloon and gift package on the front porch in honor of Ms. Evelyn's arrival and our becoming grand parents.

>Deb's nodding now so I need to help her get ready for bed!

Blessings all!

Vern

  1. Congratulations, Grandma and Grandpa!! it couldn't happen to 2 nicer people. I've seen the pictures and it's official---Evelyn's gorgeous!!! She didn't make this year's edition of the Thigpen-Darley Times, but she will definitely be in next year's. We are praying for a safe journey for you this week, and we will keep you close in prayer as you begin your treatment. We love you guys!

  4. Congratulations Darleys!!!!
What an exciting piece of news! Grand-parenting is quite the deal...all of the playing, loving spoiling without all the responsibility!
Travel safe; you will be in Dana and my prayers.

  7. Vern & Debbie,

Sue and I offer our congratulations! Sure wish our kids would start producing (or reproducing). Pretty cool getting those pictures! Looks like a beautiful baby, and someday we need to hear why the middle name is "sky".

We will be praying for you all as you head back to Arkansas - and we are glad you didn't have to be there during the last few days. I think it may have washed away over the past few days.
The Judges' Course is quite intense - they have been working me much more than I thought. I took a test this morning, and if I pass, will get a robe at the end of the week. We'll see. We did a sentencing exercise this afternoon - I was the lightest sentencer - the marines give the harshes sentences.

Well, you guys take care - hang in there and keep you senses of humor! You are in our prayers,

    Steve & Sue Castlen
